Think shoulder pads, think power dressing, think New Romantic and you have the 80s rolled into one. Tailored suits were all the rage in the early 80s and designers like Giorgio Armani. Vivienne Westwood began to lead the way with her intricate evocative tailored designs on the catwalk designs. By the mid 1980s music and fashion again collided when the New Romantic movement, born out of the night clubs of London, together with influences from artists like Adam Ant and Boy George, frills and knickerbockers, lace and satin, bright colours and the Ra Ra skirt. Labels like Boby Map, Chelsea Girl and Coppernob offering a wide variety in cost for this new look. By the end of the 80s sportswear began to take the place of casual wear and the shell suit and Lycra and leggings were all the rage.
Our 1980s vintage clothes collection tires to capture this crazy decade.
